Global tech giants like Amazon, Google, and Apple are entering Korea’s green energy and data center sectors to achieve RE100. They aim to outpace competitors in the ESA arena by focusing on Korea’s clean energy projects.

Energy Innovation Partners (EIP) and Diode Ventures have formed a joint venture, The Green Korea (TGK), to develop green energy and digital infrastructure in Korea. TGK will create subsidiaries for solar and wind power, offering opportunities to global tech companies.

TGK plans to build 1GW of renewable energy facilities in Kroea within three years, targeting domestic and international big tech firms. They are considering projects like a 150MW solar power plant in South Jeolla and 40MW data center in North Chungcheong. This collaboration is expected to significantly boost Korea’s renewable energy demand.

Diode is a subsidiary of the engineering firm Black & Veatch, operating in the field of energy infrastructure project development, investment, and operation. It counts domestic and international IT companies including Google among its clients.
